Bezmetic is a musical project that embodies the sounds of rare and old traditional Romanian songs infused with experimental jazz, free improvisation.

This vibrant mix of ancient and modern forms of musical expression is consistently innovative and restlessly imaginative. The major idea is to build bridges between two seemingly disparate sources: roots of the pure sound from the Carpathian Mountains and the avant-garde of experimental contemporary jazz.

Literally Bezmetic means perplexed, bewildered, and as mad as a March hare and here are the four musicians who incarnate its meaning:
Romanian vocalist – Monooka,
Israeli double bassist – Liran Donin,
American drummer – Mark Holub,
and British trumpet player – Steve Chadwick
all based in London

The songs are developed in the here and now, produced live with no prior rehearsals or premeditated schemes, so how music is going to turn out is all up to the single moment in time. The three main inspirations for Bezmetic are: old traditional Romanian themes, the unique joy of free jazz improvisation and the intimate atmosphere between the audience and the performers.

It’s playing with freedom in our own creative space.
It’s like dancing with wolves in the deep and wild forest of Transylvania…
